When machine is started on any program, it starts to fill with water for a couple of seconds, then the soak/prewash light flashes and then it starts draining. What could this be ?

check the water valves with a test meter unplug the machine before you take the top off,set the meter on the ohms (resistence) scale take note of the wires on each valve,remove the wires from each valve one at a time,check the resitance,the should be all the same,if not replace that valve
