Siemens oven won't stay on set temperature?

I have a Siemens HB760550B oven and if the oven temperature is set to 165 degrees or above, once it has reached that temperature, after a few minutes it resets itself to 160 degrees. If I turn it up again to say 180 degrees, after a few minutes it again resets to 160 degrees. Other than that the oven works fine. Could it be a faulty thermostat?

The potentiometer is the the bit you rotate and this changes the temp setting. It is possible this could cause the fault but it may be ok and the processor on the circuit board could be at fault which would require the complete control unit. If you wanted to avoid an engineers call out you could try the potentiometer first being the cheaper part, but as i said it could be either. Cheers

Is this part the one described as a potentiometer in the Siemens parts listing?

The oven does not have a thermostat but instead it has a sensor which works in conjunction with the electronic unit. I don't think the sensor will be at fault but more so the electronic unit is designed to have a default start temperature of 160'c when first turned on, as this is the most likely temp you would use, if you increase the temp it should stay altered but it seems your electronic unit keeps reverting to the default start setting of 160'c. i would think the electronic unit is faulty.
