Hotpoint Aquarius WP72 does not stop filling with water?

Hi,
My washing machine (Hotpoint WP72) has been in storage for about a year. When we got it back it was little moldy inside the drum / rubber rim at door. After cleaning and we started using it, after a few washes, the machine came up with the code E16. Found the pump was not working and therefore not draining. I replaced the pump and this now works well, however on testing it found that now the cold water does not stop filling into the machine when it is in wash, rinse and spin modes. Have to turn the tap on and off manually during the cycle. (Not particularly convenient for an automatic water.) Watching from the front I see the drum just filling with water and eventually the weight / volume of the water starts leaking out the door unless I turn the tap off. Appears it is just the cold tap that won't stop.

Is this likely to be the cold tap solenoid/switch or more like the computer?

Any advice would be appreciated please as I can't really afford to replace the machine at the moment and I am unable to find a hotpoint service agent in Australia who will come and attempt to repair give it is an older UK hotpoint. :(

Thanks in advance
Kind regards

Don't recognise this model but if it has a pressure switch to control the water level it is not operating, it will be situated at the top of the machine and will have a small 1/4 inch air hose on it. Follow the hose down to the bottom of the machine and it will be connected to an air chamber, check this chamber is not blocked. Other possibility the small hose may not be holding air due to a hole in it, sometimes it rubs against the drum and wears through. Cheers
