EManno out of the 1600 oddyseys you have installed a fine percentage of them will have sounder failure may be not due to the pcb but defo the sounder and.that to
me makes it cheap and nasty its like the old a1 omicron panel just a cheap crappy diy alarm

With the flashguard you can change the tone of siren

the eldemere is good but if were talking commercial/industrial thrn buy a flashguard/novagard or cqr even for domestic i would install one.of the three

hmm, its probably just down to personal opinions or bad luck using the oddys. i have never had or experienced any problem with these sounders yet. well until that day comes i will continue to use them.
remember the old saying "if it ain't broken don't fix it"

May I add?.

We have had no probs with oddy's in fact we fitted around 1600 last year and had no issues.

We use elmdene and also klax blasters also and had no issues with them either :)

what exactly is wrong with the oddyseys? you do not say specifically. do they chirp at random after a few years?. does the strobe fail?. or does it simply not sound upon testing?. or is it just cheap. cheers.

ps. not doubting you at all nick, just need to be sure because i can easily switch to another bell box.

i know i was just kidding. they are a piece of sh** only last a year at most. i agree klaxon xtra are the way to go or an elmdene prima 500 expensive tho.

odysseys are cheap crap mate and someone who's in this trade should know that, if this fellow decides to replace them then ibrahem may i reccomend you buy two cqr's or the flashguard xtra

but you should keep the box's i bet the pcb strobe/sounder are working just as good as they were 20 years ago and even the batteries

i have removed flashguard 101's (earlier flashguards before piezo's) from 25 years ago that still had good battery life if you were to have a oddysey your looking at 3 years max battery life and flashguards have hold off son

Nick, February 2015
replace them with texecom oddysey 3's they are just as good if not better. right handy engineer hold off and very loud. we use these all the time so do alot of proffesional alarm companies across the uk

IQ alarms, February 2015
DO NOT replace these bell box's great alarm box's that are unfortunately obsolete ( they are not made anymore ) i advise you treat them like a lady give them a good polishing and replace both batteries in the box's they are not much on ebay but beware only connect the batteries up when the unit is connected back up otherwise you will be purchasing hearing aid's from your local specsavers
