How can I fix my Frister & Rossmann Cub 4 zig-zag?

When I move the stitch width dial on my 1972 Frister and Rosmann Cub 4 machine the needle moves but when I start stiching none of the zig-zag stitches work. What's wrong and how can it be fixed?
