What should I pay to have my '96 Fiat Punto head gasket replaced?

Looks like my Punto's head gasket is blown. Can anyone tell me what is a fair amount to pay for parts and labour to have a new gasket fitted? It's a 1996 Punto 1100cc petrol. I cannot affort to go to a dealer for this, so I'll need to seek out a local mechanic who knows what he or she is doing. Also, can anyone recommend a good local mechanic in NW Glasgow (Anniesland / Clydebank / Partick area)? My thanks to TamTheBam for diagnostic advice. Thanks also to e3amonj.

not just the head gasket though - head will need to be skimmed and u might of bent the valves (at an extreme)

for the head gasket / head skimmed plus other bits could be £400 +

replacing the headgasket on a punto is a fairly straight forward job, a good mechanic would be able to do it in about four hours, the job could be done for about £200 but prices vary a lot between garages.
