The door lock light is blinking quickly together with 2 other of the 4 push button LED s. The manual says call an engineer.... Can this be self helped?

Firstly, you haven't told us which 2 lights are blinking. So how can we advise you if we don't know what the error code is. Secondly, Ariston are the experts and would not say call an engineer just for fun. Unless you know a lot about fault finding procedures and have the tools & test equipment needed, then I would follow their expert advice.
