Please help..leyland daf roadrunner 8.15 oil light ?

My oil light has come on when the engine is started but when I rev the engine the light goes out!!!
The wagon is a G reg and its a 7.5ton.
Please help..I am worried sick.

better to get pressure checked with an independent gauge to check correct pressure,it may just be faulty oil switch.

If the light never used to come on at tick over before then it sounds as if the pressure has dropped. Is it due for an oil and filter change? Have you replaced the filter with a sub-standard pattern replacement rather than a genuine quality filter?

Oil warning lights show low oil pressure when illuminated - they do not indicate oil quantity.

Oil pressure is proportional to engine revs

If the light goes out when you're driving - then all is well - unless the bulb has failed - so it's good to see the light come on when stationary or at low revs.
