How can i fix my Hotpoint Ultima WM72?

I have just purchased this machine off ebay. I was assured it was working when i bought it. I got home plugged it in and after i have selected the program and pressed start it keeps beeping at me and telling me to 'Close Door'. Is there anything i can to to get it to work? Is it possible for this to have occured in transit?

sounds like the door lock connection to the control panel has come loose in transit, if door is still locking but showing door close message, the control panel has been knocked in transit. probably not a problem with seller, these machines are easy to fix on the panel. dont stand for a repairer saying the whole panel needs replacing, crap the connection has come loose just needs connecting back. £30 job at the most.

You've done this in transit mate - if there was a motor problem or anyother type of problem - you would have error code right at start - and not even got as far as being able to select. As said before machine ok to move, but can be tempermental in transit.

Sounds like when you moved it, either you have disturbed the control panel or door lock. Check the ebayers feedback, have they sold before, if they have a good rating on selling, did they invite you in there home and not a shop, met you somewhere or even delivered, if they have had good feedback on selling and invited you in there home my bet would be they are genuine sellers. If they were dodgy or con artists I dont think they would have given you home address. Through past experience with these machines is they are ok to move from room to room, but once in transit somehow they do lose their lock connection. It is still machine I would never do without, they are worth the minor repair.

I had the same problem, my machine worked great for two years, then moved house, when plumbed back in, panel kept on asking me to close door, luckly I was still in warranty. When repair guy came out, what had happened was when it was in transit the door wires on the control panel came lose. He did advise that if there was a major problem elsewhere, it would have come up with a error code right at the beginning. Hope that helps.

check doorlock wires have'nt come off in transit,if you give door a good hard shove it may come on if doorlock is on its way out.other than that its prob new lock needed
