There is a clicking noise when I try to start my mountfield 1228H MOWER ?

i had my mower serviced last year now when i try to start it there is a clicking noise when I TURN THE KEY BUbut it will not start

The clicking you hear will very probably be the sound of the starter solenoid operating - a sound you do not usually hear because the engine is turning over.

For some reason the starter is not working - the most likely cause a flat battery - enough power to operate the solenoid but not enough to make the starter turn the engine over.

There may be other reasons but you should first suspect the battery
