i have a tefal steam gererator iron . the base works but the iron has stopped working the plate is cold and the light that comes on when heating up and goes off when ready is off . what can it be ? does the iron itself have a thermostat that might be faulty ? when you push the steam button the generator makes steam but the iron itself is not working . please help

Perhaps the thermostat in the iron has gone open circuit - perhaps the electrical supply to the iron is defective. Most likely guess.

If the heating element were broken the indicator light would come on and stay on.

The more complex a device the greater chance of failure

It is doubtful that the thing can be repaired.
