Replacing knob and spring on cooker - Belling Kensington 90e?

I have bought a new bezel with temperature guide for my fan oven; I took off the knob and spring in order to put on new bezel, but now the knob and spring will not stay on, is there a special knack to doing this? Help....

Thank you all very much for bothering to reply to my problem, much appreciated. It would appear that the D clip was on the spindle in the cooker, when I subsequently took it out and put it into the knob, then onto the cooker - it worked fine......if that makes sense!

CAREFULLY pull off another knob and see how that was fitted

I think I can picture in my mind what's causing you a problem...

I hope I'm right...

Fit the spring clip to the back of the control knob - it will create a flat across the hole in the knob which you align with the similar flat surface on the control shaft.

Push the knob firmly onto the shaft with the ball of your thumb.
