"(they only last c.2 years reliably)", must be a 'one man band' putting forward the idea that batts. need to be replaced that often as 'the norm'

He meant to say replace every 5yrs, (the recommended length of time as per the NSI) could last 7yrs though, still change at 5 though, always better to be safe than sorry

It really depends how the battery is tested before replacement though, using the right equipment it could have to be replaced in 4,3,2 or even 1yr.

Veritas 8 power light constantly flashing:

This indicates either a faulty back up battery, power supply fault or charging fault. In practise the first thing to do is to change the
Battery in the panel. 12V 1.2Ah or similar - under £10 unless someone is taking you for a ride!

If that doesn't work you may have a power supply fault.

In practise this means the 100mA fuse on the "power in" terminal block has blown. There should be a spare located under the grey fuse cover.

If this fails I guess you've got a charging problem?

NOTE: If the fuse is blown you may get a fault light on another zone. Mine was zone 6. Also the internal keypad tone went very quiet.

Replacing the battery (they only last c.2 years reliably), then the fuse restored the system to "fixed". Also my GF now thinks I'm a genius!!

Hope this helps,
