I have a Singer Sewing machine 522 and bought second hand?

singer sewing machine 522 (foot pedal part number 103435-009,) bought machine 2nd hand it seems to have lay unused for a while.started running by itself and I'm sure there's a burning smell from foot pedal.. Any advice welcome to sort this

Think I've sorted problem by removing the capacitor thanks for your replies folks 👍

Can only see one screw to remove,and even then it doesn't come apart 😭😭

We had the same problem had to get another foot from a sewing machine shop

Yes - search on here - look at the most recent question - it's about the same problem.

People talk of removing the capacitor(s) from the foot pedal to solve exactly the problem you have.
