My Potterton Puma 80?

I've just moved into a new house with a combi puma 80 already in place, When you switch on the Central heating then turn on the hot water tap they both run full a few seconds then the pilot light on the boiler goes out, can anybody help me before i get ripped off by someone from rogue traders

How do I descale my Potterton Puma 80? it's taking ages -and a lot of water running off, before it's hot enough to use. The heating side is fine...........

When searching for someone qualified and suitable for the job, please visit:

http://www.trustcorgi.com/

They have an excellent tool on there to find local QUALIFIED and vetted installers and repair engineers in your local area that searches by postcode.... Then you won't need to worry about being on Rogue Traders....

As for the original question; if memory serves me correct; they have a wax capsule diverter valve fitted... This wax capsule can sometimes cause the boiler to overheat and trip the o/heat stat when it starts to get worn...

To test this, turn the heating to off and run a bath... If the closest rads to the boiler start to get hot, you need a new diverter valve - I'm pretty sure the wax capsule head is no longer available to purchase as a standalone item which means you would need a new diverter (#378-889)...

If this is not the case and the rads stay cold, then it could be one of two things that I can think of at the moment.... Overheat thermostat cutting in too early (Check the temps of your flow and return pipes) or that the appliance is scaled up and needs descaling/replacing.
