jl 125 11 rear break cable?

im having problems with my back break drum/cable after having to replace the cable and drum break holding arm after the drum seizing up ,locking and snapping the holding arm and cable one day ,I have replaced both but its 50/50 weather after applying the break it either comes on gradually or there's a loud click and the break locks up ,any help would be appreciate any help as my mot is due for renewal in a couple of weeks and I cant think what the problem might be ,weather I haven't got the adjustments wright or not I don't know ,please help

the most likely cause is the rear brake pivot shaft sticking ,its usually due to corrosion.you need to take the cable back out of the arm on the rear brake plate and move the arm with your hand forwards like it does when you push the pedal down,if it sticks then you need to take the brake plate off and take the pivot shaft out clean it and the hole it goes in with some wet and dry paper and grease it up slightly and reassemble it.

And you live to tell the tale!!! could be one or both brake shoe return springs have broken or the brake lining has come off. the brake cam spindle should be free to rotate and greased, brake cable routed for smoothe operation and the brake pedal is not jamming when fully pressed down. good luck.
