Window Washer Problem - Ford Escort 1.8 LX (1986)?

Screen Wash only operating occasionally when switch is depressed. Pipes checked and clean and resevoir level are ok.

Its a common fault that the gause filter between the waterbottle and the pump to get blocked
remove the pump by pulling it out of the bottle and the gause is the rubber insert that is left in the bottle.
