Sometimes food debris - lemon pips - small bones - silver paper - gets under the impeller blades and stops them rotating. If you're a bit handy you can clear the crud away from inside the cabinet - just one Torx screw holds the cover on - at the very bottom of the sump under the filters.
Sometimes the pump motor fails.
