How to access plastic housing Hurricane 2000 watt?

Hi, my Hoover died, I think I may have stood on the lead that goes into the machine just above the model info plate. I cannot see how to get into this section, other bits come apart fine, can anyone please advise on this as my hubby is an electrician and thinks there is probably just a wire that needs reconnecting if only we could get this housing off! Many thanks.

Before you do anything else - cut away the mains plug and a few inches of cable and fit a new plug - the cost is minimal and it only takes a few minutes.

An internal wiring fault is highly unlikely - a broken wire inside the cable at the plug end is very common from constant tugging over time - I have repaired perhaps 20 vacuum cleaners this way.

Good Luck..., November 2015
