the steering lock has stopped locking and the ignition key keeps jamming in the lock unless i spray it with wd40 and i have had someone try to programme a new key to the car but his programming equipment wouldn't accept it

I have found spraying wd40 in ignition barrels does no good at all and causes more problems than cures, it may be you will need to go to a main dealer with your security code and key number to get a new barrel made up to suit your key and Tech2 will probably be needed to code your key in. good luck
