rover 416sli h reg 16v honda engine?

was driving home when my timing belt went ping didnt hear any knocks or bangs from the engine so want to know if the valves hit the cylinders when belt snaps on this car??416sli 16v honda engine pre cat would appreciate any help as cant afford engine rebuild and because of age car isnt worth the cost but will gladly put a belt on if iv been lucky and nothings hit please answer asap thanks Daz leeds uk

this engine has been identified as an interference engine which means that the valves and pistons will have made contact.
