Why does tumble dryer shut off?

After flooding our tumble dryer sat in a few inches of water for a couple of hours, we took out the filter and water cartridge which are in the base, emptied and dried them. After 48 hours we switched on dryer, sounds a bit louder but all lights working, put a few towels in and switched on. But after a minute or 2 it stops and the water tank full signal light comes on. There is literally no water in the tank and it usually lights up only when full. Any suggestions or have we lsot this dryer??

The switch for full water is at the base of most dryers. It is most likely still wet inside and closing the contacts. Needs checked with mulimeter to see if it is opening when switch arm drops.
