how can I fix my tumble dryer?

I have a white knight tumble dryer that has suddenly stopped working. It is around 16 years old but has been used very lightly. It is a white knight dryer, model 767 c condenser type. The red power light comes on when mains is applied, but nothing else, no other noises etc. I have stripped the machine down, had a general look around for any loose connections terminals etc. I bypassed the safety switch on the front door by connecting the 2 wires together and I have also replaced the 8 micro farad capacitor next to the motor. The motor itself does not smell like a burnt out motor and it moves freely, as I said it has been lightly used. The belt around the drum is in good condition.
Anything else I could try?
