How to take off yellow glue so I can redo?

I have a lovely large coffee porcelain/china coffee pot that is electric and has cream and sugar with it. The pot was owned by my mother in law and it broke on one side in one piece and it was glued back together I want to use it, and the glue has yellowed and it does slowly leak. I want to take off the glue so the piece comes off can be cleaned and then restored so it not only doesn't show much and is water tight. HELP please

You are driven more by emotion than by practicality - you may do an excellent job with the new glue but heat has the tendency to loosen glue - a watertight seal is unlikely.

Use heat to remove the yellow glue - consider clear silicone bathroom sealant for the repair - or some kind of specialist super glue.
