i have a 2001 iveco 35s11 2800?

fitted new starter motor and van started perfectly after several days of instantly starting nothing is happening now ie no clicks from starter or any response at all 3 different batteries have been tried all were fully charged every other electrical operation on the vehicle works perfectly I have checked all the fuses located in passenger footwell and checked conections on starter ignition has been cannibalised at some point in its life as ignition is turned on with push button switch and starter operated by separate on off switch this has worked perfectly during last 18 months I have owned van as its always started instantly

cdc is right could be a faulty starter but check the easy things first. you will have a thick wire from the battery 12v and a small wire from the ignition switch or button, 12v when you turn the key or press the button. you need a test light or multimeter to test it. if you have 12v at this wire check the earth wire to the engine if this is ok starter is no good.

to raz I did wonder about trying that unfortunately im part colourblind so have always stayed away from electrics so don't know which terminal to take a supply so can you advise me on that please

Have you checked for a 12v supply from the ignition/ starter button to the starter motor.
