vauxhall corsa 1.4 8v 1993 headgasket change?

what do i look out for when i do the headgasket, ive bought the headgasket,rocker cover gasket,inlet gasket and the water pump and cam belt, any advice will do????

Make sure you check the block for corrosion or cracks as well. mine had a corroded block and just kept blowing gaskets

Get the head checked by an engine centre once it's off, pressure test and skim. Use new head bolts when rebuilding. Put a thin smear of gasket sealant between the cam cover (not rocker cover) and the head proper. Get the engine place to check the hydraulic tappets (lifters) as well if these are a bit iffy then your cam could be worn out within weeks of you rebuilding it. Any tapping noise at the moment is a good sign they need doing. Make sure you do an oil & filter & anti freeze change aswell.
