I cannot extract the filter on my Bosch 1200 exxcel?

The drain filter on my Bosch 1200 exxcel will only turn half way and I am unable to extract it.There appears to be something stuck in the thread or behind the filter itself.I have drained the machine by way of the pipe next to the filter.How can I solve the problem ?.
