exactly how do i go about cleaning the idle valve thingy?

my vectra is stalling when revs are low.guess its the idle valve thingy that needs cleaning but where do i find it and what do i clean it with?

not always ,just remember if its stalling it can also be your MAF,crank or cam sensor ,dont be fooled into buying a MAf sensor if the code is present in the ecu as this will just be because the car has stalled.

i have a 1999 2,0 vectra there is two torx screws holding the idle valve on. I remove the pipe from the air cleaner to the top of the carb to allow easy access to it remove the electrical connector be careful of the gasket, if you spray carb cleaner in to the unit in a container and leave it soaking for about 10 mins you should see it bubble up (cleaner working) it should take you about 30 mins. i done mine last week, a new one from vauxhall is about £116.00. good luck

Hello it,s just on the left of the inlet manifold but cleaning it out is pretty pointless because it never works.
If it,s stalling and you,ve got a light on the dash looking like a little orange engine then it,s faulty in resistance so it will need replacing totally.
