when i turn my computer on i don't get any signal on my monitor. (pentium 3, 700 mhz, aopen motherboard mx36le)

Have you got another monitor you can try on the PC, this is an easy way to find out if its the monitor or the PC. Of course first thing to check is the power supply, is it plugged in properly at both ends and is the fuse OK.
