When I press shower button on it keeps throwing main breaker out on fuseboard

The shower has a fault - very probably the heating element - the breaker trips because it detects a leakage to earth.

Have it repaired or invest in a new shower unit.

The breaker is an Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker (ELCB) a safety device to protect you from electrocution.
