Unable to remove tamper message?

I have an alarm in my rented property (Yale kit 4-2010 I believe) and stupidly changed the battery on the front door sensor without putting the alarm into safe mode 1st. Now I have a tamper message with an orange light and I'm unable to get rid of it or set the alarm. Please could somebody tell me if I can fix this? The batteries in all of the sensors are fine, most are brand new. The manual mentions a reset but this looks like a factory reset which will remove the devices attached which I'm not keen on happening!

Go into the setup, remove the 1 item, then reinstall it
