the brushes on the brush bar rotate fine using the spindle on the brushbar when disconnected from the machine but when attached they wont rotate even when the brush switch is on the on positition what is wrong

Dunno. If its a Dyson it could be the clutch. If its an electrolux it vould be yhe belt. If its a cylinder cleaner it vould be the turbine.
