Teal steam generator is leaking steam from the water filler hole?

My teal steam generator is leaking steam from the water filler area even though the top is turned tight to seal why is this and is it dangerous if you press the steam button it releases the pressure and steam stops leaking then it builds and does it again help

Steam will be allowed to escape when the pressure inside gets to a certain level - a safety feature.

As you use up some of the steam (steam pressure) the relief valve will stop venting until the pressure builds up again.

What you describe seems to be quite normal and certainly not dangerous.

It would be very dangerous if no steam was allowed to escape.
