....I have read some fridges have a drip tray but i cant seem to find one...the fridge is above the freezer & does have the hole inside but cant find anything like a drip tray...the smell is knocking me sick...i have bleached the whole kitchen but i think the smell is coming from the fridge freezer...If i cant sort this i am going to have to go buy a new one asap...

The right hand picture shows a generic fridge/freezer compressor (black can thing) with a drip tray on top (white/translucent plastic moulding.)

There should be a pipe leading from the drain hole inside the fridge, transferring condensate to the tray on top of the compressor, where the water will evaporate from the warmth of the compressor.

Melt water in a fridge drains out the back and evaporates on the compressor - it's very doubtful that this is making the stink that's causing you grief.

If it's a fishy ammonia-like smell then suspect electrical fittings breaking down chemically with age and heat - light sockets and wall sockets - give them a good sniff.

If there's a washing machine in the room then the odour may be from the machine's waste pipe behind the machine - if the drains are playing up and are partially blocked the smell of foul water can get into a room through the waste pipe.

I doubt that it's your fridge...
