The hoover has perfect suction using the hose, however when using the cylinder it will not pick anything up. The Belt is fine and the brushes are clear of debris.

I have found a solution! I have stripped down the cyclone section as much as possible. Cleaned it all out.

(be careful not to break the carbon relase dowel that runs through the contre, i broke this both time i have stripped down! Super glue works well!)

Now the important bit is the 7 cyclones. If you look into the thin end (use a torch and a lot of squinting.) You should, on a clean dyson, see an exit hole with two vanes on it. You will see it on silouette if you shine the torch in the suction inlet and look in the cyclone above that. If you see nothing then its blocked. either use a jet washer or a wooden squewer to clean out the holes. Then clean out the debris so they dont reblock.

Make sure everything is totally dry (leave it overnight, as there can be a lot of caught up moisture inside)

I also put tape around the washable filter housing to make it a better fit. So air goes through it and not around it.

Put it all together and you should get 100% suck again.

Personally it annoys and surpises me that this can block so easy. it looks like a design fault. But onece you know how to fix it then its just a bit of work to do onece every while!!

Me too! Same problem. I have found that on the housing that holds the washable filter there is a hole in the centre which has a rubber seal in it. It seems that this is a "release" valve which will open if the suction resistance to the motor is too high. I found that it is continually open and suction is lost. In other words the suck is through this release valve and not through the brush/foot.

So the solution i found was to put a piece of tape over the hole (from the outside) thus completely sealing it. It makes a dramatic difference, also if you look at the filter afterwards you can see that the iarflow has been going through the filter as it should.

HOWEVER! If i do this then i find that the motor over heats big time and so i can only use the machine for 10mins at a time!!

So i can solve this problem but not really! There i have found a solution but not the real cause of the problem, if you see what i mean. What is causing this valve to open up? Obviously there is a air flow problem somewhere else causing the motor to overwork. Maybe the filters are too dense or something.

Any ideas!!
