Problem with Oven/safety cut off devise Hotpoint BU82SS?

I have a Hotpoint BU82SS electric oven which appears to overheat across the control panel when we use the grill, and and subsequently cuts off the power to both ovens. Don't think it's the element. Any ideas on how to locate, re-set or fix the safety cut off devise would be helpful please. We've stopped using the grill now but when you turn on the oven the fan powers up but no heat. Thanks!
