One number on keypad does not work!?

Please help! I have a Panasonic talking caller ID phone that has one number on keypad (#9) that does not work. Is there a way to fix this, or clean it, so it willonce again work? Thanks for any advice! Dee Anderson

Your problem can be attributed to two options, first if your keypad is a push button, you need to send your phone to technicians.

The second is if your keypad is a contact pad, you need to open the phone and check if the conductive layer on the pad is worn or is dirty. You can clean it with an isopropyl lequid.

Be very careful when you clean or open the inside of the phone.

A bit late but....

Essentially, your issue is either that the keypad has some gunk under it, or the contact has become worn on the keypad.

Two options:
1. Cleaning - disassemble the unit and then clean the surfaces of the keypad and related board with 99% alcohol.
2. Pad repair - there are keypad repair kits on the market that work fairly well - search for "rubber keypad repair kit" in any search engine and there will be lots of sites that offer them.

I repaired a cordless phone with a cleaning issue - it's posted on my blog at www.electricalrepairlinks.com if you need to see some pics.
