How can I fix slow speed on Kenwood a701a?

I recently replaced the 450 ohm resistor on kenwood chef a701a. the motor is now running but only on no load, that is when I remove the liquidizer cover. It is running on slow speed and the speed control is not workin when I try to increase the speed.

You need to chance the 2 resistors and 2 capacitors you can get a repair kit from ebay

This is a 35 year plus model. I checked the resistor with an ohm meter and found it open circuit. This belonged to my parents and as far as I can remember it was never replaced. I do not know what caused the resistor to burn out. It does not show any external signs of burning. The last time it was used it was working. One fine day it just would not start. If I knew what was wrong or took it to someone competent I would not be asking hear. Thanks for your help. I know the brushes are ok.

I would hazard a guess hat you have no actual idea what you are doing but just replacing stuff that looked burned.

What caused the resistor to burn out in the first place? What was the resistor doing?

Answers that start "I think" or "I suppose" do not count.
