How do I test the heater element for my Hoover HNC160-80 tumble drier?

After managing to replace the faulty on/off switch all was working well for a while. but now although the drum turns and timer works there is no heat.
How can I test the heater element to find out if it is this? I want to make sure I am replacing the right part.

You could always simply disconnect the heater and use a battery and bulb to make sure there's continuity from one end to t'other.

ive cleaned out all the filters, but the 'Filter Care' light remains on when on the heated part of the cycle, it goes off when it reaches the 10 min cooling section. I checked the element but it does not seem to be heating. Is this good enough to say its the element that's faulty?
