I tightened the two nut on either side of the my hob lid on my cannon Cambridge double oven cooker but no there is no gas coming through to the hob but the ovens are still ok

Did you actually have any idea what you were doing? There is a gas cutoff valve associated with the drop down lid. My guess is that by mucking about you have either disturbed the valve actuator or mucked up the valve itsrlf. Ask a Gas Safe certified engineer to put it right.
