My stream generator iron 8548?

The lights on the iron and the base comes on , but the iron is still cold then the base gets hot where you put the water in how can I fix this

If the iron soleplate element hasn't failed you may have a damaged cable. Get someone competent to check it but consider whether the cost of getting it fixed would be better spent on a new decent branded iron, with a warranty.
