Hotpoint SWD60 keeps on tripping the fuse on first start?

i have a Hotpoint SDW60 about 6 year old. I have not used it for few years as we purchased a bigger dishwasher. I had stored it in the garage. It was working fine. I recently connected it and started the machine. It keeps on tripping the fuse box after about a minute. I have checked the pump and the heating element. They seem to be ok on conductivity test. I am not sure if it is a mother board which has gone faulty due to storage in the garage. Any advise would be helpful.

I took the heater out to check for continuity check and it shows ok. I put the heater back and the machine still trips the fuse within a minute into the start cycle. What other checks do i have to do before calling an expensive engineer. Not the machine was working but has been storage for few years. I am a mechanical engineer rather then electrical.

Hi Acp, just to clarify, it is the whole house electric supply which trips. to reset, i had to switch back the main red switch on and not RCD as said above.

Hi Acp, many thanks for the response. it is the RCD tripping, the whole house light. I am not sure what do you mean by overload breaker? we had to reset the RCD every time it tripped. I took the heater out and did a continuity test, it was ok. The machine starts to fill with water, but cuts of very shortly. I have also cleaned the water container that contains salt. the salt side of the compartment was quite brown, so i took it out and rinsed it. The only thing is it was not used for few years. What is the best way to test the heater before i change it? thanks

What is the machine tripping? Fuse? Overload breaker? Earth Leakage trip (RCD)?

I suspect the earth leakage (RCD) is tripping, possibly caused by a heater that has failed, not open circuit but rather with an earth leakage failure.
