astra keeps stopping?

astra van 2005 1.7cdti was running ok until a week ago until it just stopped had a look no fuel in the filter housing filled it up and goes 1st time might run for a hour then stops again same thing ?

Sounds like ur fuel pump isn't working or blocked filter to check disconnect fuel line at filter in connection u will need some one to turn on the ignition if fuel runs out then ur pump is fine take off the out let pipe shud b the same if very slow or no fuel change the filter as it sounds like it blocked if when u turn on ignition and no fuel or just dribbling probly lift pump hope this helps

Your empty fuel filter I would guess is probably your problem, not sure on these but if there is a primary pump in your tank then it may be worth having a look in there for any debris/dirt blocking the pick up filter, you can usually hear the pump running also when the ignition is on,have had one motor before that did this and it was the actual pump on the way out,just intermittent bad starting, a replacement cured the fault.
