My Moffat Electric Stove, Model 306 54, Serial 521816, has two problems, besides being very old (and a work of art so that I am loathe to part with it):

Problem 1: the sliding knob for setting the oven temperature, always wants to slowly slide to the right to a higher temperature even from an off position, which is obviously a little dangerous. Before opening the stove up, i thought it would be nice to have the repair manual. Does anyone have one? Of course if anyone has any suggestions for what be the problem and a fix that would also be appreciated.

Problem 2: the door oven opens now with no resistance and which due to its weight moving downwards, is a little dangerous as it could surprise an unsuspecting user. Any suggestions and/or a manual would be appreciated.

A long shot but you could always approach Moffat and play the "historical, long lived appliance and would they like to use it to promote product quality" card.
