Hi, I have had to replace the 40w SES 300C bulb 5 times this year! Cant be the bulbs. It's not the connections! Any other ideas ?

This would suggest that the bulb cover is damaged or not fitted correctly. Take out bulb cover, clean and then inspect it closley to look for fine cracks or damage. You may find getting a new bulb cover will solve the problem without finding a fault with old one.
