You lift the lever on the top of the printer. Place the paper in the roll holder area at the back of the printer - the journal side is the right hand paper roll (with the paper coming from the bottom of the roll) and pull some paper over the front of the printer towards the keyboard. Now lower the lever down on the paper so it pinches the paper in the front of the printer.
