My Miele W863 suddenly stopped mid cycle with rinse light flashing. Having read the forums I have fitted new motor brushes, new suspension dampers and replaced the 6K1 relay and TR5 fuse on the PCB. The machine will fill and empty but still has no drum movement and again the flashing rinse light. Am I looking at a replacement motor? or motor controller? Next step please the machine is a good 15yrs old but solid and was reliable.

Thank you keymatic (March 2020). First I took the PCB out checked and re-soldered the fuse and relay no change. Finally attacked the motor, the connectivity was poor so I cleaned up the commutator and motor coils ending with a good squirt of WD40. Put it carefully back together connectivity much better. Reassembled whole machine and put it on a spin cycle. Success 800rpm doddle. We now have two working Miele washing machines that will probably outlive me.

when you fitted the replacement brush set were the old ones worn ? if worn when you fitted new set did you clean off the commutator on the end of the armature as there may be bad connection there due to previous arcing. Ideally before refitting the motor you should check for continuity between circuits. if the motor reads ok you would need to check the loom right back to the pcb for breaks
