fault code F17, but ?

Bosch exxcel 1200 washing machine.
Fills with water (too much) and then empties before displaying F17.
Inlet hose filters cleaned and new hose fitted.
Still the same problem.

I've known a tube to the pressure switch to be blocked with soapy crud. Check the whole tube and connection points are clear of crud

Ok thanks for letting me know. There is a possibility that there was either a blockage in the air tube going to the pressure switch or the tube was not tight on the pressure switch allowing air pressure to leak out. Removing and reinstalling the tube may of fixed that problem. Good luck,

Thank you so much for your help, Lincoln appliance.
I removed the inlet valve to inspect but nothing apparent.
Ordered a new valve, but meanwhile wished to
use the spin cycle so put everything back together, using the old valve, and now all programs are working perfectly!
Maybe a faulty electrical contact caused the initial problem, the only other thing I can think of is that the machine was disconnected electrically for 24 hrs.
One other thing, I disconnected the pressure switch in order to remove it, but couldn't, so reconnected it.

Yes it does but I have seen many valves that don't shut off when they are supposed to because of the dirt inside or a weak shut off spring. There must be some way to pause the machine or stop the cycle. Even if you have to turn the selection dial back to stop or switch power off at wall, If water still flows in, turn tap off and then back on. If water now stops flowing then the valve shut off spring is weak.

Thank you Lincoln Appliance. Does not the pressure switch tell the inlet valve to shut off? I would try what you say but the machine does not have a pause button.

Paul B., October 2020
As previously stated - resistance is not the only thing to look for. F17 is saying too much water is coming in so may be the valve is not shutting off when it should. Simple test is to start the cycle and let water start to fill and then hit pause button. Water flow should stop immediately. If it doesn't stop or is hesitant then valve is faulty. Try the test several times.

Resistance on the coil does not mean the valve is 100% sometimes the valve can stick in the on position due to dirt or a weak return spring. I would suggest you replace the inlet valve and that will eliminate that possible cause.

Since writing about the above problem I have tested the inlet water valve and obtain just over 4k ohms on both circuits, so the valve is working ok.
