Siemens iQ500 door keeps popping open on tumbel dryer?

I have a Siemens iQ500 Tumble Dryer and the door keeps popping open. I have replaced the latch/catch but I can see that the mechanism on the inside is closed - spent hours trying to release so what am I doing wrong?
