I bought a renault grand scenic 2010 i have had a full service and a brand new battery and new brakes front and back done on it but today an orange spanner light has come up on my dashboard with check vehicle on it no other lights what could it be

When was it last serviced? Was the service interval reminder reset?
The obvious thing to do is get the codes stored in the engine management computer read. That will give you a starting point.
